Jean Paul Gaultier S.A.

Jean Paul Gaultier (JPG) is a French fashion brand established in 1982 by a renowned couturier Jean Paul Gaultier. Gaultier was the label's chief designer until his retirement in January 2020; it now produces haute couture collections by other designers, such as Glenn Martens and Olivier Rousteing. The self-titled fashion label debuted in 1982, quickly gaining critical acclaim and expanding the business; by 1985, JPG had made $50 million in worldwide sales. In 1993, Gaultier launched a line of fragrances. In 1999, French luxury house Hermès acquired 35% of the label's ownership for ₣150 million ($23 million). The company opened its first standalone "brick-n-mortar" store two years later. Between 2003 and 2010, Jean Paul Gaultier served as the creative director for Hermès, returning to his label afterward.
