Edition Egtved was owned by a trust, founded in Copenhagen 1951 with the name "Musikhøjskolens Forlag". After takeover by Svend Asmussen the company moved locations, in 1964, to Egtved, and later in 1974 changed name to Edition Egtved.
Again in 1996 the company moved to Aarhus. Over the time it had specialized in choir and church music, and also pedagogical releases.
Fusioned in 2001 with Edition Wilhelm Hansen, but remained its name and profile.
