Yankee Stadium

Note: This entry is for the original Yankee Stadium - 1923 to 2008. Baseball stadium in The Bronx, NY, USA - constructed in 1923 as the home of the New York Yankees, known as "The House That Ruth Built." It was the home stadium of the Yankees from 1923 to 1973. The stadium underwent renovations in 1974 and '75. The Yankees returned for the 1976 season and remained till 2008. The stadium was demolished in 2009, and the Yankees moved to a new Yankee Stadium which was built next door. During its lifetime the original Yankee Stadium hosted many other sports teams from various baseball, football and soccer leagues, as well as championship boxing matches, Papal Masses, and concerts.
