Groupe de Musique Électroacoustique d'Albi – Tarn (GMEA) is a French electroacoustic/experimental music center, established in 1981 by composer Thierry Besche, and based in Albi. Since 2007, GMEA is one of the six National Centers for Musical Creation, alongside with GRAME in Lyon, GMEM in Marseilles, CIRM in Nice, La Muse En Circuit in Alfortville and Césaré in Reims. Thierry Besche served as a director of the Group for over thirty years, until Didier Aschour took over in 2015.
Under Aschour's leadership, GMEA became affiliated with Ensemble Dedalus, and organized new annual Riverrun Festival. Didier also gave the Center a new name – Montagne Noire (Black Mountain in English), in reference to Montagne Noire mountains in central southern France that united Occitania region, as well as famous American liberal arts Black Mountain College (1933–57) and Black Mountain in North Carolina, USA.
