Église Saint-Alphonse D'Youville, Montréal
Настоящее имя: Église Saint-Alphonse D'Youville, Montréal
The first church, in brick, very humble, was built in 1921 but with the growing population, eight years later, the church was demolished and was replaced with the actual church.
While the large façade bell tower might indicate a Byzantine style building, the interior of the church is in the Gothic style. The windows give a look of radiance to the long diagonal ribs. These diagonal ribs form, from their base to the top, an equilateral triangle.
The pillars, the double archways, the communion table, the balustrades, the windows and the rose window are made of composite stone, called Desco. In spite of the post-war bearness, the church is decorated with three large stained glass windows in the apse and the transept, executed by Father Parrot, a Redemptorist Father. Two large paintings, executed by painter Emile Vezina, decorate the lateral altars.
