Mainpal Inv.
Настоящее имя: Mainpal Inv.
Mainpal Inv. was a Danish independent record label and private imprint of Kristian Vester (better known as Goodiepal). It's mainly known for a controversial 'Brand Archives' series of 7" picture discs with unauthorized remixes of Vester's sound design commissions for Nokia, Carlsberg, Chupa Chups and other corporations, released under his eponymous moniker. Mainpal Inv's main "numbered" catalog primarily featured compilations and special reissues by Goodiepal and his partners. The first few editions came on picture disc LPs designed by Olga Bramsen in die-cut white plane sleeves, rubberstamped and hand-signed by participating musicians. Later pressings were single-sided, with custom artworks and Vester's elaborate hand-etchings on reverse.
The debut release in 2000, 8-12 Bit Productions Of Sketches And Works By, featured tracks by Vester's old collaborators, Odd Bjertnæs and Per Høier, as well as two obscure Danish composers, Anker Fjeld Simonsen and Carl Bergstrøm-Nielsen (creator of "intuitive music" therapeutic approach). The second compilation Audio Structures Computed By presented tracks by the Italian/UK electronic duo Gamers In Exile and Tordis Berstrand, among others. (This LP had identical tracklists on both sides, even though the music was completely different.) In 2003, Mainpal Inv reissued Goodiepal's critically acclaimed 2001 'Narc Beacon' CD compilation. It was Mainpal's first joint release co-produced with a French label Ski-pp, publishers of the original disc. The Nag Nag Bacon 2xLP package featured eight songs from 'Narc Beacon' and four bonus tracks. The same year, Mainpal Inv released 2 x Historical Performances By Danmarks Ældste Sangskat by an art/performance parody group Denmark's Oldest Song Treasure in which Vester participated in the early 90s. The collective supposedly performed 9000-years-old Danish tribal sea shanties transcribed "with a silicone needle" from an ancient runic stone; the entire story was an elaborate pseudoscientific hoax.
In 2004, Vester's label released a partly unofficial Mainpal Inv. 06 LP. The Touch Parking was recorded by Australian composer Philip Samartzis with Rasmus Lunding during his stay in Denmark, and released on Synaesthesia label from Melbourne. Without their knowledge or consent, Kristian remastered the album and pressed 300 picture LP discs, which featured Mainpal Inv's "classic" geometric patterns but properly credited Synaesthesia and included the official SYN 008 catalog number. Goodiepal subsequently "hacked" other labels in a similar manner, releasing a faux Mort Aux Vaches without Staalplaat's authorization or his notorious 2010 Mort Aux Vaches Xtra Ekstra, Route 66 Eksperimentet "super-bootleg." This unplayable LP notably sold with 500 Danish Krone bill inside but more curiously listed 25+ prominent labels (all of which had contacted Vester in the past with offers of releases); he even created matching catalog numbers for all of them, despite never contacting labels beforehand.
In 2005, Mainpal Inv. 07/08 album came out, jointly produced with V/Vm Test Records. The VVMT24 2x12" was a solo Gæoudjiparl record, notably featuring his unique "Mechanical Bird" — a whistle-activated sound device designed and hand-built by Kristian Vester and extensively used in his 2004-2016 performances and lectures.
