Fat Cat Split Series
Настоящее имя: Fat Cat Split Series
Dating to the very start of the FatCat label, with a first release in 1997, the Split Series was set up as an occassional outlet running in parallel with the label’s early output. Its aim was to curate high-quality, challenging series of 12” records that resisted easy classification and would continually shift, keeping the listener guessing as to what might come next and utilising the unique qualities of the format in an engaging, creative way – whether it be pitting different sounds/styles against one another; drawing out links and similarities; or simply introducing unknown artists on the flip of a more established name.
Each release in the Fat Cat 12" Split Series is available both digitally and in a limited one-off vinyl pressing, housed in the series’ distinctive, white outer sleeves, numbered by a small black sticker and a black inner sleeve, printed with the release infos for each split side in black/white typographic layout. Beside the FatCat Records catalog number [12FatXXX], the Split 12"s are Individually numbered by holes punched in their outer sleeves and no further textual information (one hole for the first release, two for the second, three for the third, etc.), which translates to "Split Series #1 - #24" in the release titles. The record sides are numbered consecutively throughout the series, from 1 to 48, on each records center labels and inner sleeve. Originally intended to last for just a few years, it’s taken almost a quarter of a century to reach a total of 24 releases with the series, that will yield three compilation CDs (1-8; 9-16; 17-24).
