Designed by architect Vilhelm Lauritzen, the construction works began in 1936. In 1940 the first radio program was broadcast from Radiohuset. In 2007 DR moved out of Radiohuset to centralize at DR Byen and since August 2008 the building hosts Det Kongelige Danske Musikkonservatorium.
