Saga Classics

In 1990 Sound-Products Holland B.V. licensed the Saga Records Ltd. catalogue for transfer to CD and began to issue discs in 1992. They allocated catalogue numbers SCD9001-63, but nine numbers had not been issued when they ceased trading in mid-1993. The series was taken over until 1997 by Emergo Classics, who renumbered 47 of the CDs, added six that had not previously appeared, but allowedseven others to lapse. Just over half the titles chosen for transfer originated in the 1970s, with another quarter from earlier Saga or Classics Club sessions. The rest comprised recordings dating back to the 1950s licensed from a variety of sources, including four of Russian origin.
