Operaen

The Danish national opera house, located on the Copenhagen harbor front. A sub-division of Det Kongelige Teater, it opened in January 2005. Operaen was a donation from shipping magnate Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller (estimated costs 4 billion DKK, aprox. € 550 million). The resident orchestra is Det Kongelige Kapel and the resident choir is Det Kongelige Operakor. Not to be mistaken for Operaen, Christiania, the small club in Copenhagen's autonomous sub-society Christiania ironically dubbed the same.
