Originally a vaudeville venue, known in 1928 as the Portland Publix Theater, it became the Paramount in 1930 as a film theater until 1972, after which it became a concert venue. Renamed The Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall in 1983 after large donations were made by Harold and Arlene Schnitzer for the renovations.
Residency of the [a2265437], the venue has access on Portland's Broadway, Main Street and Park Avenue. Audiences often refer to the venue, from its heritage, as 'The Schnitz'.
