Young Vic

Theatre company in London, formed in 1969 (but with roots dating back to the 1940s) and regarded as a more youthful offshoot of the more established "The Old Vic" theatre company. The Young Vic Theatre, London building in Lambeth was established in 1970 to permanently house the company's performances. In early 1971, The Who performed weekly live rehearsals at the Young Vic as a means of road testing new material from before a live audience. Later expanded editions of Who's Next would include tracks from these sessions.
