Divadlo Semafor

Czech musical and comedy theatre in Prague. Established by Jiří Suchý and Jiří Šlitr, it opened on 30 October 1959. “Semafor” (semaphore/stoplight) was actually meant as an acronym for “SEdm MAlých FORem” (Seven Small Forms). Initially it was located at the Ve Smečkách street until 1961. After several brief “guest performances” at other theatre venues in the early 1960s it has moved to Passage Alfa (today Stýbl’s Passage) until 1993, and to Music Theatre Karlín 1995–2002. Since 2005 the theatre resides in Prague-Dejvice.
