John Oswald's studio & cassette label founded in the early eighties as a research center "to ferret and fashion; to appropriate against (dices error) all odds, to place in cahoots, a cornucopia of essential and vivacious sounds from everywhere and whenever; to map them into vortextual sequences and overlaps, symphonies and cacophonies, cartoons and realisions, typically byzantine in format. Pop stars deform and implode, the Classics get what's coming to 'em"... All in 30 minute chunks, 2 to a tape. Oswald expanded the idea of cassette networking, extended his charade to the point of creating a mythical Professor X to head the label, and sending guidelines to members of the press writing about his operations.
