Regal Theatre, Hitchin

Originally opened as a cinema on 20 November 1939. Seating was provided for with 700 in the stalls and 300 in the balcony. Always independently operated, the Regal Cinema closed on 23 December 1977. It was converted into a recording studio (refer to Regal Studios, Hitchin) and concert hall in July 1980. Groups such as Spandau Ballet, Thompson Twins and UB40 played the venue. The venue had ceased operating by 1985 and was demolished later that year.
