The original Liederhalle was built in the years 1863-1864. During the war years 1943-1944, the hall was destroyed.
In the years 1955-1956 the New Liederhalle was rebuilt in the same place. On August 2, 1956, the New Liederhalle was inaugurated. It houses the Beethoven, the Mozart and the Silchersaal.
In 1991, Wolfgang Henning expanded the facility with a congress extension, with the addition of the Hegel- and the Schillersaal. Since then, the two buildings has been called the Culture and Congress Center.
