A collection of performances by many famous Jazz musicians, including Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, Earl Hines, Dizzy Gillespie, Bud Powell, Charlie Parker, James Price Johnson, Tommy Dorsey, Jimmy Dorsey, Fats Navarro, Thelonious Monk, Teddy Wilson, Stan Getz, Miles Davis, Gene Krupa, Bob Crosby, Jimmie Lunceford, Erroll Garner, Art Tatum, Gerry Mulligan, and others. Slight surface noises, rumble, and scratches were not removed in order to preserve the original tone qualities. Noise suppression, filtering, echoing, or artificial enhancement to simulate stereo were not used.
