The manufacture of shellacs - and later vinyl records - was from Rio de Janeiro to the outskirts of São Paulo in 1949.
In 1974 the company was renamed as EMI-Odeon Fonográfica, Industrial e Eletrônica S.A., but some releases were issued under credits of I.E.M. Fábrica Odeon S.A. until 1977. In 1982 the company changes from a "Sociedade Anônima = S.A." corporation to a limited liability company "Sociedade Civil Limitada = Ltda.", changing the name to EMI-Odeon Fonográfica, Industrial e Eletrônica Ltda. The factory's activities ceased in the late 1980s.
The company also pressed and distributed several other labels, including Capitol Records, Decca, Parlophone, London Records, Polydor (until 1960), Columbia (until 1962), A&M Records (from 1968 to 1979) and 20th Century Fox Records (from 1963).
