20kbps Records

Non-commercial net-label based in Zürich (Switzerland), devoted to Electronic and Experimental music encoded in low bitrate. Despite the title, the label doesn't have strict rules about bitrate music has to be released with. 20kbps Records is considered to be the first lo-bit label. Active since 2002. Founded by Mathias Aeschlimann (Gert 3000). On 29 January, 2020 Mathias (who passed away later that year) announced that the label would likely cease further activity, citing his declining health as the deciding factor. In an announcement on 17 May, 2020 it was detailed that 20kbps Records would continue operation with Jonas Santoso (The Hardliner) acting as the new head of the label, and Mathias continuing his involvement in some aspects of the label's management.
