Private Record (4)

'Private Record' is a His Master's Voice, non-commercial series of records commissioned by various institutions, groups and individuals, not intended for general sale to the public. Between the 1910's & 1950's, for a considerable fee, people could walk into HMV's studios and commission a record. HMV pressed these on special yellow label issues. Can often be identified by the words 'Private Record' on the label (not definitive however), and the aforementioned bright yellow colour of the labels - There are some Private Record labels with other colours however. Sometimes the 'Private Record' words are missing from the label but the record can still be identified as part of the series through the catalogue number, label colour or other identifiers or combination of identifiers such as the label colour and similar words such as 'Demonstration Record' & 'Not For Sale'.
