HR Giger Bar

Bars in Chur and Gruyères, Switzerland, created by the Swiss artist "HR Giger". Also known as HR Giger Bar Museum. History: HR Giger Bar is a work of art, an original and completely unique experience. The ceiling, walls, floors, fittings, tables and chairs are all modeled by the artist in the style of his acclaimed ‘Alien’ biomechanical environment and character designs. There are two Giger Bars: the first, the H.R. Giger Bar in Chur, Switzerland, the artist's birthplace, which opened in 1992, and the second is The Museum HR Giger Bar, located in Château St. Germain, Gruyères, Switzerland, which opened on April 12, 2003. A third bar was planned in Tokyo, but HR Giger had to pull out of this project as the building codes proved complicated. Although this Tokyo Giger Bar was open for a few years, the artist had never visited it. Another bar had opened briefly in New York. His work is also on permanent display in the 'HR Giger Museum' opposite.
