Sint-Baafskathedraal, Gent
Настоящее имя: Sint-Baafskathedraal, Gent
Gothic cathedral in Ghent (Belgium), seat of the diocese of Ghent. The church dates back to the 12th century and was originally a parish church dedicated to Saint John the Baptist, known as the Sint-Janskerk. After the demolition of the Sint-Baafsabdij, Gent in 1540, the chapter had to move and the Sint-Janskerk became the Sint-Baafskerk. In 1559, with the founding of the diocese of Ghent, it was elevated to cathedral. It is famous for housing the altarpiece representing the Adoration of the Mystic Lamb by Jan van Eyck and Jan van Eyck.
