Unicorn Records announced its first releases in late 1954 with the aim of creating “a general catalog of a wide variety of works not recorded before and also jazz and humor.” In 1956 it launched the “Music at M.I.T.” Series, recorded in Kresge Auditorium by Peter Bartok. By 1959 the catalog was acquired and partially re-released by Kapp Records.
