Legitmix
Настоящее имя: Legitmix
Legitmix was a company that offered services to remix and mashup artists who create and sample -- based on music they and end users already legally own. They were based in Ottawa, Canada and Brooklyn, New York.
Omid McDonald invented the Legitmix software solution after seeing his childhood friend Booker Sim unable to clear the music for a documentary he spent years making. Omid teamed up with Booker and engineers from his former startups to found Legitmix in 2010. Financing came from Canadian angel investors and a beta version of Legitmix was launched at SXSW 2011 with Diplo’s “Mad Legit” mixtape. Legitmix secured a second round of financing in 2012 led by the Ontario Emerging Technology Fund (OETF).
In late 2016, it was announced that the company had shut down.
