Founded in 1989 from the remnants of Shape Optimedia, Inc. and based in Sanford, Maine, U.S. Optical Disc (USOD) was a full service CD manufacturer owned by U.S. Optical Disc Inc. until 2007 when it was acquired by Americ-Dering, a joint venture between Americ Disc, Inc. and The Dering Corporation. The brand did not survive the acquisition. For a time, ending Mar. 29, 2002, the company also known as DOCdata New England.
Many CDs will credit the full company name in the CD matrix - "U.S. Optical Disc, Inc." (with or without the comma). For those releases, please credit U.S. Optical Disc, Inc. instead.
