Chicago Golden Years
Настоящее имя: Chicago Golden Years
French series from the early 1980s that show a Chess label throughout.
Exact title is "L'Age d'Or De Chicago Golden Years", as printed on logos on front covers.
Most of these LPs are obviously reissues of the Chess Blues Masters Series, that was launched in the U.S.A., after the All Platinum Record Group acquired the Chess rights in 1976.
All Platinum morphed into Sugar Hill Records in 1979, so on all the white bluring to turquoise blue labels Sugar Hill Records Ltd. is credited at the bottom of the labels.
There's also a later black label version of most, if not all, releases, that missed this credit, likely because the Chess rights were bought by MCA Records in 1985 when Sugar Hill went down.
Vogue P.I.P. is credited on the rear cover for Distribution, while on the label perimeter commonly Disque Vogue P.I.P. is denoted for this task.
Near the cat# at the rear cover and on the labels either the code VG 306 or VG 405 appears.
Several French releases were pressed two or three times :
- turquoise blue and white labels, with Imprimerie De Saint-Michel, Ambazac printer
- turquoise blue and white labels, with Offset France printer
- turquoise blue and white labels, with France Imprimerie Sorel printer
- black labels, which are later repressings, as explained above.
Two systems are used to number this serie :
- Double Album xx, for... double LPs with gatefold sleeves, with VG 306 price codes. All these double albums are compilations.
- Single Album xx, for... single albums, mostly with single sleeves, with VG 405 price codes.
Right society is SACEM SDRM SACD SGDL for the LPs released in France, but some volumes of this serie were also made and sold in Scandinavia (with NCB on labels) and Yugoslavia (with SOKOJ on labels).
Please avoid to use the common P & C marks as a release date here. The belongs to earlier releases throughout at this series.
