The National Institute of Arts and Letters, the parent body of the Academy, was founded in 1898 for the “advancement of art and literature.” It was named American Academy and Institute of Arts and Letters between 1976 and 1993. Appears also sometimes as Academy Of Fine Arts And Letters.
