Spirit Studios

Recording studio in Manchester, England. Founded in 1980 as a commercial recording studio by John Breakell, who also acted as Managing Director. Facilities included 4 small rehearsal rooms and a single 4-track recording studio. In 1984 Spirit Studios made the transition from a commercial recording studio to an educational facility and became "School of Sound Recording (SSR)". SSR was the first dedicated Audio Engineering School in the UK. In 2004, the Tariff Street campus closed its doors and moved to SSR's current location on Downing Street, Manchester. In 2006 Spirit Studios closed down. But in June 2009 it was officially re-launched on the fourth floor of SSR’s Downing Street premises.
