Fedco, an anagram for "Fain Electronic Devices Company", was a mobile recording truck based in Providence, Rhode Island, owned by Lyle Fain and owned by Lyle Fain. It began operating around 1969 as a location recorder and broker for custom record pressings. Soon, as the only East Coast mobile recording unit, Fedco was hired to record numerous live concerts in and around the New York area, including at Bill Graham's Fillmore East, the Felt Forum, Columbia University and Carnegie Hall. At first a 16-track recording setup in an International Harvester step-van, by 1979 Fedco was a 24-track mobile facility in a 30-foot tractor-trailer. An administrative office was opened in New York in the early 1970s, but headquarters was relocated to Rhode Island in the mid-'70s. Perhaps the biggest-selling release Fedco was involved with was [m101332].
