Recording and mastering studio in Los Angeles, California, USA, built by Elektra founder/owner Jac Holzman during 1967-1968. The building also served as Elektra's HQ until 1983 when label operations shifted to New York.
The studio started as a division of Kinney Corp., becoming a division of Elektra Records Corp. in 1972 and Elektra/Asylum/Nonesuch Records in 1974.
The studio was equipped with a Neumann disk-cutting system, installed in studio C until 1974 and in studio B afterwards. Records cut here can be recognized by "ESR" etched in the runouts, often alongside the engineer's initials.
