Technicolor Video Services, a video cassette manufacturer active since at least 1981, moved its manufacturing operations to Camarillo, CA, USA in October 1993. CD and CD-ROM manufacturing equipment was added to this facility under the company Technicolor Optical Media Services the next year, having its official start in April of 1994. Nimbus/CA branding on Technicolor glass masters:
In 1998, Nimbus and Technicolor were merged when Nimbus CD International Inc. was taken over by Carlton Communications PLC, then-parent company of Technicolor. Nimbus/CA branding appeared in the matrix and/or mould of discs manufactured at this plant until 2001, coinciding with the acquisition of Technicolor by Thomson from Carlton Communications PLC.
Nimbus opened a disc manufacturing plant Sunnyvale, CA, which began operation in 1996. Nimbus acquired the 82,000-square-foot Sunnyvale facility when it bought the assets of HLS Duplication Inc. in August 1995. However, Nimbus announced the closure this facility in early 1997 in order to consolidate their US manufacturing operations. Sunnyvale's manufacturing equipment was then moved to the Provo plant.
Nimbus' 42,000-square-foot Provo UT plant was established in 1994. When the Provo plant was shut down in 1999, the Provo equipment was moved to Technicolor's Camarillo plant.
Some Rainbo Records pressings were also glass mastered by Technicolor at the Camarillo plant.
