Hitzone
Настоящее имя: Hitzone
Dutch series of compilations albums, released four times a year, containing most of the current chart hits. A double-disc set year overview is released each November. Hitzone can be seen as one of the Dutch equivalents of the Now That's What I Call Music! (UK) series.
The first Hitzone album was released in early 1998, following similar previous compilation album series like Now This Is Music (1984 - 1989), Hits Album (NL) (1984 - 1989), The Greatest Hits (NL) (1990 - 1997), Now This Is Music (2nd Series) (1997, only two volumes), and (More) Hits Made Famous By The Music Factory (1996 - 1997). This first Hitzone release marked the end of Dutch record company collaborations EVA and Magnum. Each volume since 1998 is marketed and distributed in turn by one of the major record companies in The Netherlands.
Initial volumes (1 to 24) were released as a single disc set. Volume 25 included a DVD, which contained most of the music videos of the songs on the CD. Volumes 27 up to 43 also included DVD discs. In 2007, the additional DVD disc was abandoned and Hitzone continued as a double-disc CD series. As of 2019, starting with volume 88, Hitzone returned to being a single-disc series, for the first time in sixteen years, with record labels Universal Music & Sony Music citing the series, it now better fit to adapt to current developments in music consumption.
Hitzone 100 is the last in this serie, released on February 18th, 2022 as 2CD and 2LP.
