American recording studio located in Midtown Manhattan, New York. The studio was co-founded by Gary Kellgren and Chris Stone (8) in April 1968, and closed in 1987. The first sessions at the studio were for [m24535]. Other notable albums recorded at the studio included [m72879], [m26725], [m16766], and [m40121].
The Record Plant was the first studio designed to provide the musicians with a comfortable, casual environment for recording. Later, two more locations were opened, Record Plant, Los Angeles and Record Plant, Sausalito. Remote recording was done by Record Plant Mobile Studio.
