History:
In 1892 Karl Neef founded the "Druckerei und Verlag Karl Neef" in Wittingen and produced the "Wittinger Zeitung" there. In the 1950s and 1960s, the company shifted its focus more and more to commercial printing. Neef pioneered new technologies, invested early in offset printing and, as one of the first printing companies in Germany, in photo typesetting.
On a separate note, Hermann F.R. Stumme's printing works were set up in Wohltorf near Hamburg in 1950. Stumme invested in the first offset printing machine in the 1950s.
1978 Neef and Hermann F. R. Stumme merge to form Neef + Stumme.
1980 Neef + Stumme installed the first web offset press. The company expanded rapidly in the 80s and 90s, consistently expanding sheetfed and web offset and the in-house bookbindery.
2003 In sheetfed and web offset, the company consistently focuses on the high-quality, high-end segment of the industry - “premium printing”. In 2009 this claim will become part of the company logo.
2015 With the acquisition of Sirius Direktmarketing GmbH from Bielefeld, Sirius brings 16 years of experience in the field of fulfillment lettershop as well as competencies in the field of cross media, database solutions and color digital printing.
In 2018 Dr. Ida Bagel, managing partner of the Bagel Group (Tiefdruck Schwann Bagel, Bagel Roto Offset), invest in Neef + Stumme. As a result of the investment, Neef + Stumme benefits from the financial strength of the Bagel family and from the purchasing advantages of one of the largest printing companies in Germany.
