Italian record company founded on 16 December 1957 by [a2594104] from the merge of Fonit (Fonodisco Italiano Trevisan), founded in 1927, and Cetra (Compagnia Edizioni, Teatro, Registrazioni, Affini), founded in 1933. Fonit-Cetra S.p.A. - that may also appear as Fonit Cetra spa - came into being with a capital of about 250,000 dollars.
Active since 1 January 1958 with the directive that in terms of catalog the two separate labels and the two offices, in Turin and Milan, would continue to exist
In 1977 all Fonit-Cetra's records were made in the 7000 square meters Milan factory. There were three production lines with ten presses on each, capable of turning out 30,000 <45's> in eight hours. Fonit-Cetra also took care of pressing and sales for numerous Italian and foreign labels.
