The American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (commonly abbreviated as ASCAP) collectively licenses the public performance rights of its members to concert venues, broadcasters, and digital streaming services and distributes the accumulated royalties. As of 2021, ASCAP collected over $1.335 billion in revenue from licensed reproduction and music sales of 16 million registered works, with $1.254 shared and paid out to 850,000+ songwriters, composers and music publishers.
