Norwegian Postal Savings Bank. Oslo, former Norwegian state-owned bank established by the Act of 10 Dec. 1948, in business from 1950. The bank operated by post offices, where "The red bank book" was a common sight. The bank changed its name in 1992 to "Norges Postbank" and was in 1995 merged with "Postgirokontoret" (established 1943) to "Postbanken". This was in 1999 taken over by "Den norske Bank", which later merged with "DnB NOR".
