Fenton Records

US independent record label which operated in Sparta, Michigan from 1964 to 1970.
Founded by David Kalmbach in 1964, Fenton Records recorded and promoted garage bands from across the western Michigan area. The bands paid for all of the expenses related to recording, mastering, and pressing their record and in return got to use the Fenton Record label. Kalmbach also ran Great Lakes Recording Company, which was owned by the label and located in the former Sparta movie theater. The label and studio folded in 1970 when Kalmbach went to work for another recording studio in Detroit.

In 2013 businessman Greg Peak and musician Michael Hard teamed up to bring Fenton Records back to the former Sparta Theater, acquiring the rights to the Fenton Records name.
