The label was founded by Eli Toscano and Howard Bedno and was active from 1956-1959. Launched the recording careers of Chicago blues artists Otis Rush, Magic Sam and Buddy Guy. Dissatisfied with his arrangement with Chess Records, Willie Dixon joined Cobra where served in many capacities, including talent scout, producer, arranger, songwriter, bassist and became the label's artistic vision.
