"Mandioca, La Madre de los Chicos" was an Argentine independent label dedicated to the new vanguard Argentine music of the era. Founded in 1968 by the owners of the printing company Mano Editora Pedro Pujó and Jorge Álvarez with Javier Arroyuelo and Rafael López Sánchez (who would soon move to Europe), they released the debut albums by Moris, Manal and Vox Dei (2), during its short existence Mandioca issued the aforementioned debut albums, two compilations, and 21 singles. The owners of the label would also operate the Agency Mambo Show to coordinate the band's live acts.
Manal later moved to RCA due to differences with Mandioca. The label would disappear in 1970 owing to financial problems. It's founder, Jorge Álvarez, would later fund Talent (4) on Microfon.
This label, together with the bar La Perla and Billy Bond (2)'s La Cueva bar can be considered the birthplace of Argentine Rock.
