Balkan

In the early 1940s, the Albanian singer Ajdin Asllan started both the Me Re Record Co. and Balkan Phonograph Records labels, forming a partnership with the Bulgarian violinist Nick Doneff and, for a short time, the Greek accordionist John Gianaros. Both labels produced songs from the Balkan countries. In the early 1950s, when the Balkan Phonograph Records label switched to LP and 45rpm single production, it shortened its name to Balkan.
