World Broadcasting System Inc.

US recording service for the radio industry, founded in 1929 by Percy L. Deutsch (1885–1968) in New York. The company recorded and distributed 16" discs to radio stations for broadcast. WBS also operated several recording studios in New York (= World Broadcasting Studio), Chicago, Washington, Hollywood. Sold in 1943 to Decca Records, Inc. See also: World Broadcasting Systems, Inc.
