Warning:there are currently no known identifiers for this plant. The typical runout pattern associated with Dureco actually arises from the lacquer cutting process and should only lead to a credit for the Dureco Studio.
The Dureco pressing plant was constructed in 1972 together with the Dureco Studio when the company moved from Amsterdam to Weesp. With these two new state of the art facilities Dureco was able to control the full artistic and manufacturing process of its releases. The plant was equipped with 18 Fabel-presses (built by a company within the same group (IPG), S.A. Fabeldis) and had a capacity of 4.5 million LPs and 1.5 million singles per year. The managing director was Henk Ridderinkhof who was previously with Bovema.
By 1980, when Dureco became independent after the bankruptcy of IPG, the pressing plant was fully automated with nine albums pressing machines and three double singles machines, with a capacity of 100.000 albums and 100.000 singles weekly.
In 1987 part of the plant was turned into a CD factory. At that point the vinyl plant had a capacity of 3.5 million LPs and 3 million singles annually. On 9 October 1987 the first CD pressing plant in the Netherlands was opened, equipped with one Krauss Maffei machine imported from West Germany. A second one was added a year later.
The last vinyl record was pressed in 1992.
