Blackground Records

American record label focussing on hip hop / black music. Owned by entertainment attorney and artist manager [a348491] and his son Jomo Hankerson, Blackground was initially founded in 1993 as Blackground Enterprises to release music by [a348491]'s niece, [a13733]. Named Blackground Entertainment until 2000, it switched distribution deals over time - releases were previously distributed by Jive, Atlantic, Virgin and Universal Motown. Reportedly dormant since 2013, after an aborted campaign to release new music by [a13733] with current artists and producers such as Drake. Please look up the logo on a specific release carefully to distinquish which one of these three labels should be used.
