La Butte À Mathieu
Настоящее имя: La Butte À Mathieu
Founded in 1959 by Gilles Mathieu, "La Butte À Mathieu", famous Val-David coffee house (boîte à chansons) presented all those who, in the effervescent Quebec of the time, took the floor to “tell the country”. Like Félix Leclerc and Gilles Vigneault ... the same evening, in 1961. More than a stage, "La Butte" was, until it closed in 1976, a meeting place for Montreal bohemians, a melting pot where song and theater, jazz and poetry mingled, a must for anyone who aspires to make a name for himself in Quebec. It went bankrupt in 1974 and was later transformed into a summer theatre.
