Gramofonový Klub
Настоящее имя: Gramofonový Klub
Czechoslovak record club, de facto acting as a sublabel of Supraphon.
Established in 1958, terminated in the mid-1980s.
Although de iure a club, they had an own editorial office, editorial staff, and an editorial release schedule. Most of their releases were available as limited editions to club subscribers only, not in regular retail stores, pressed in limited quantity based on club members’ pre-orders. Several records were also released by Opus or Panton in the 1970s.
The club releases were initially divided into “editions”, like “Edice pop-music” or “Jazzová edice”. Also, until the late 1970s, the club was almost the only domestic source for releases licensed from foreign major labels like CBS, Atlantic, or EMI, particularly in the pop, rock and jazz genres.
Note: please list “Gramofonový Klub” only as the secondary label to Supraphon, Panton or Opus, repeating the catalog number. On licensed foreign releases, please always list the original label as well.
