"MBT Records was founded in 1987 by students of New York University's Music Business and Technology Department. Born out of a desire to have a hands-on vehicle to actively study the music industry while in college, the company released its first LP in October of 1988, its second release in March 1990, and its third student artist sampler in November of 1990."
