British satirical magazine, founded in 1961 by William Rushton, Christopher Booker and funded by Peter Cook. It has become as well known for investigative journalism as for satire. After the initial few issues, it was edited by Richard Ingrams until 1986, when the editorship passed to Ian Hislop, who still edits it.
