The Singles Society

Taken from label website:
"The Singles Society is a new label, an extension of Telstar's working relationship with Alan Mcgee beyond Poptones.
The label was largely inspired by the amount of exciting bands around, both here in the UK as well as overseas, and by the receptiveness of the British media in discovering and promoting new talent.
What was also important was to create a label that was involved in band development and fostering burgeoning talent. Some of the bands may be early in their stage of development, but totally worthy of a release. The 'all or nothing' approach of the major labels can sometimes put bands in a precarious position where because they don't recoup the vast sums spent in marketing and promotion, they get dropped before they realise their true potential. The whole idea of The Singles Society was to have very achievable goals and expectations, letting bands develop organically without all the pressure.
The musical ethos behind The Singles Society will be about discovering and promoting new alternative bands. It won't be genre specific in so much as while we are focusing on guitar acts, if we come across a great electro or dance record, we'll put that out as well. Where ever we find something creative and progressive. That's why we can put The Casanovas and The Droyds on the same label.
While The Singles Society will initially focus on releasing singles (around ten singles annually) it aims to develop two to three acts a year into album acts. The label will act like an incubator for Poptones and the Telstar Group and as and when a band comes of age, the marketing and promotion budgets will increase to meet expectations."
