Image Recordings is no longer active. The following profile comes from a 2012 archive of the label's website: Founded in 1999 by acclaimed flutist and conductor Ransom Wilson and award-winning engineer and producer Paul Blakemore (3), Image Recordings chooses its releases for artistic rather than economic reasons. Successful performers and ensembles who have escaped the attention of major labels, unusual repertoire ordinarily deemed non-commercial, and re-releases of beautiful but no longer available recordings from other companies will find their home on Image. The new label uses the latest, most-natural sounding microphones and equipment, recording in 24-bit Digital and Sony’s newest format, DSD®. Image utilizes recording techniques designed specifically to capture the artist at his or her best.
